Our History and Mission

 Qualicoat’s story began in 1970, when Sam Pontarelli established a small industrial finishing department within another company he had founded, PKG Equipment, Inc. in Rochester, New York.

Sam built his businesses around principles that were very important to him — take care of the customer, never compromise on quality, conduct business with honesty and integrity, and always stand behind your work.

As that small finishing department grew, those same principles became the foundation of what would eventually become Qualicoat, Inc.

More than 50 years later, much has changed, but the values Sam established have not. They remain an important part of who we are, how we treat our customers, and how we do business today.

We are proud of where we began, the values we inherited, and the responsibility of carrying them forward.

For more than 50 years, Qualicoat has grown by staying true to a few simple principles: do quality work, treat people fairly, take care of our customers, and stand behind what we do.

While our equipment, technology, capabilities, and the industries we serve have changed considerably over the years, those principles have not. We’re especially proud of the people who have helped build Qualicoat — including employees who have been part of our team for 20, 30, and even more than 40 years. That experience and dedication have become an important part of who we are.

Our mission is simple: continue earning the trust of our customers, provide exceptional finishing and service, and create a company where people are proud of the work they do.

After more than half a century, we’re still learning, still improving, and still looking forward to what’s next.
